About

Yeni Türkiye is an independent project that shows open data on Turkish politics in maps and charts. It is supported by no institution, organisation or party; the site carries no ads and no tracking code.

Where the data comes from

• Election and referendum results: the results system of the Supreme Election Council (YSK), final results (sonuc.ysk.gov.tr).
• Parliament: the TBMM list of members and their pages (tbmm.gov.tr). Photos and biographies come from there.
• Mayors' current party: public statements by the parties, the municipalities and the mayors themselves. Every change is listed on the page with its date and a link to its source.
• Province borders: alpers/Turkey-Maps-GeoJSON (Apache 2.0 licence), simplified. Not an official map.
• Typefaces: IBM Plex and Barlow Condensed (SIL Open Font License).

Rules

• Every page shows its source and the date its data was last updated.
• A mayor's change of party is recorded only from a public statement, with the date of that statement. Rumours and single-source claims are not recorded.
• Removal from office, arrest or the appointment of a trustee (kayyum) is not in itself a change of party; provinces run by a trustee are marked separately on the map. Where the municipal council has elected a new mayor or acting mayor, the party of the person in office is shown.
• Election maps show the party with the most votes in each province; parties are counted one by one, not alliances. For local elections, the 30 metropolitan provinces use the metropolitan mayoralty result.
• The thresholds for amending the constitution (360 and 400) are not adjusted for vacant seats; they are always counted out of 600.
